Collection of Ancient Egyptian Artifacts and Arts of Ancient Egypt The inspiration for this necklace/earrings comes from a string of beads in the shape of a "nefer" hieroglyph.  Found by William W. Flinders Petrie on an excavation in 1921, it is now in the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology"s Egyptian collection.  The pendant created for the necklace and earrings imitates the shape of "nefer" sign, which means goodness and beauty.  These adornments were intended to symbolically transfer such attributes to the wearer.Earrings, 24 Karat antique gold-plate over pewter.  Ear-wires are gold-plate over sterling silver.
